Weirdly, on YouTube there are like 90 different covers of this song, but I can not find the original there.

I totally forgot about this jam. Back when I was a teenager I started to dig into all the epic classic psychedelic rock I could find, and top of the heap was Jimi. I loved the trilogy of albums he made with the Experience, and Band of Gypsys was fantastic too, but I never dug into the other weird little odds and ends collections until my buddy Stancliff played this for me and blew my mind. It was in pretty heavy rotation for a while, then I forgot about it for years until recently, when I was playing the Witcher 3, and there is a small island you can visit called the Pali Gap coast and it brought memories of this song flooding back.

It’s a solid instrumental guitar jam with a groovy bass line and Jimi just tears it up throughout the whole tune. Definitely worth a listen.

The term Pali Gap is a reference to a cliff face in Hawaii. I’m not sure if the Witcher is referencing the same place Jimi is with the title, or the song ¯_(ツ)_/¯
