A break from hip hop! This is the catchy lead single of off tUnE-yArDs’ third album Nikki Nack. Merrill Garbus’s choice of instruments and use of loopers, as well as her killer voice, contribute to a very unique sound. Personally I enjoyed their (her?) second album w h o k i l l a bit more, but they’re both solid examples of fun indie weirdness.
This is a pretty good song. As I mentioned above I’m more partial to some of the tracks off the second album more, like Bizness. I just love that vocal sound at the beginning, and the rhythm of it grabs me a bit more.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Last time I heard it: It’s been a while actually, but someone shared it at work in a playlist and I started singing it to myself after seeing it there.
