This is just such a pleasant tune. I haven’t really dug into Surfer Blood’s discography too extensively, but I’ve been exposed to a fair bit from friends, music sites, and various music streaming radio stations. This song has ended up on a number of my playlists over the years, and taking a look appears to be by far their most popular song, at least in terms of Spotify plays (sitting at over 10 million listens, while their next is close to 2). I feel like this song packs a lot of Gen X/Millenial ’90s nostalgia into a fun, still-modern, catchy surf pop song. There’s great layering of the different instruments, the singer’s voice is perfect, and the overall vibe of the song is just awesome. Whoever produced this track did a remarkable job. The more I think about this song the more I realize how frequently I listen to it. With a lot of my regular rotation tracks on various playlists I’ll skip it after I hear it enough times. I don’t think I’ve ever skipped this one.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Last time I heard it: I don’t think I ever go a full 72 hours without it popping up on one my playlists when I’m driving, working, playing games, or just jamming out.
