Oh R. Kelly. I feel like he was a prototype of Kanye in the “very talented but constantly doing/saying the dumbest things publicly” type of celebrity. This song is an exceptional example of the fun R’n’B that was happening in the late ’90s/early ’00s, and somehow has had the lasting power to stay relevant since then. I feel like it will kind of fade out, then I’ll start hearing it all over the place again a few months later.

In the past few months I’ve seen it done at karaoke twice (and once where I did it), seen it referenced on Twitter multiple times, my GF has been singing it (due to a strange train of thought leading there from the OJ: Made in America documentary series) and had an impromptu singalong while at a friend’s house on Saturday.
