8/8/16 – Wang Chung – Everybody Have Fun Tonight

I’ve mentioned before how I’m not a huge fan of ’80s music. This is a prime example of the cheesy ’80s pop that I just don’t like, but it is undeniably catchy, and has been playing in a loop in my head all morning.

What does it mean to “Wang Chung tonight”? I do not know, and probably never will. All I really know about Wang Chung is they pop up as the butt of jokes pretty often. Like Leela from Futurama saying “This Wangs Chung” and this bit from Beavis and Butthead.

Quick googling tells me that the name is Chinese for “Yellow Bell” which is the first note in the Chinese classical musical scale. At least that’s interesting.

My Rating: ⭐

Last time I heard it: I’m currently watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the spin-off show Angel. This last Saturday I saw an episode where Angel sings this terribly at karaoke (which, sadly, I can’t find a video of).

Honorable mention today goes out to two different songs which are also rattling around in my head due to my weekend activities. The Olympics theme, which I’ve heard several dozen times before commercial breaks on NBC’s awful streaming, and the theme song to Gravity Falls, which is an awesome cartoon I’ve been enjoying the hell out of the past few weeks.

What do you think?
